So the zone is growing and have allot of people with the same name, so was wondering, if people would rather be called by there real name or by there user name.
i have notice some people getting confused from other people having the same birth name.
to me it does not really madder, all though I do like my user name, zentar.

well, i prefer blake, since i'm on here way more than the other one. lol

My real name is much easier to type than my username, and to me it seems a bit more personal. But...whatever makes people happy, I guess.

well, my name is my preference. I love using real names rather than zone names, it's easier

Call me anything, just don't call me late for dinner.:)
Troy

I like real names. I think it's friendlier.
That's why my first name is also my username.

Post 8 by motifated (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 04-Oct-2006 21:49:37

Well, people who know me off-zone know me as Lou. I picked my user name, because it tells people something about me. That is, if people know about the Yamaha Motif. I agree with the person who said that our birth names are more personal.

Lou

well, I do prefer Cala, and it's only a select few who can get away with HR or puff'n stuff. (VT phanettic thing)

Well, I prefer my birth name, to be honest. Besides the birth name often is shorter than the username. I think it's fine for closer people to call me Ines.

When I first joined the zone I felt left out because so many people knew each others real first names. But finally I got comfortable enough with people to let them know my first name and eventually added it to my profile. And it really does seem more personal to have people call me Becky rather than buckeye fan. But it can be confusing when there are three or four guys named Chris or John logged on at the same time. And there are other Beckys on here too, but I am usually not logged on at the same time as they are.

My screen name was made up in haste when I really didn't know what a screen name was. So, it has no sentamental value to me. I guess Bob is probably easier to type, so that's fine. Are there any other Bobs on the zone? I don't know of any and that's unusual.

I find screen names a little confusing because you don't get hints as to whether or not you are talking to a guy or girl (unless you call yourself CuddlyGermanGirl or GoodGirl something like that.) then it's pretty obvious. When typing on the boards I usually use screen names because that's what shows up.

Then, seems like once I get used to a person's screen name they change it, Becky, Troy, etc. I guess my response, after all this writing is: "whatever floats your boat."

Bob

I don't think there are any other Bob's, I at least haven't seen any. And there is no other Ines either. Yay.

Post 14 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Friday, 06-Oct-2006 6:53:14

There're one or two other Jennies (Jennifers) and I hate the name anyway, so I'm commonly known as Jen or Bella (short for my user name Bellatrix) on The Zone.

Post 15 by Pure love (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 06-Oct-2006 13:10:45

Yeah it is fine if oyu find a shortage of the username when something's confusing.

Post 16 by Captain BlackBeard (Account disabled) on Friday, 06-Oct-2006 13:44:16

Well, there are so many johns on here that it may get confusing. I have however seen people calling me blackbeard or captain john, so as to show who they are talking to. In a private qn, i would say john is best, in a public note two but the problem is, when too many johns are there, so, i would say, do as you please, all is fine, as long as i know you are talking to me, lol.

I don't mind people calling me chocolate_girl at first but once they get to know me I like to be called Michelle. Anyway there is another girl who comes on here called chocolate lover which I think some people get mixed up with. Sombody keeps calling me cas and that is her name. I don't know if there is anymore Michelles I think there might be.

Post 18 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Friday, 06-Oct-2006 19:31:07

A girl can never have too many johns. LOL

Post 19 by rat (star trek rules!) on Friday, 06-Oct-2006 21:49:47

well the people who know my other nicknames call me them, and most people call me by my nickname. this doesn't bother me at all, it is a way for me to tell who they are talking to.

Post 20 by Pure love (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 07-Oct-2006 8:02:31

Yeah there are one or two Michelles but I mean you can always try and find a way to express who you mean. Like for example if there are two Chris' online, I would call happyman happy Chris and the other one chris or something like that.

Post 21 by SingerOfSongs (Heresy and apostasy is how progress is made.) on Saturday, 07-Oct-2006 9:18:39

Hmm, I guess it feels a little more personal when people call me by name, or at least by the nickname most people here use for me. However, I'm not going to be bothered if people call me by my username, especially if they don't know me welll.

Post 22 by Heavy Metal Girl 85 (Zone BBS is my Life) on Saturday, 07-Oct-2006 20:53:32

yeah I prefer for new people to call me Kat, but all my other friends call me by my nick names, but those people have made those nick names up so that's why they call me them lol.

Post 23 by Pure love (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 08-Oct-2006 7:50:32

I never had a nick name really. And Ines is rather short, so why not?

Post 24 by UnknownQuantity (Account disabled) on Sunday, 08-Oct-2006 8:46:36

I like Jess, or Jessica. My username is fine, though , if people don't know or forget my name, but if they know it, then I prefer that as opposed to my username.

Post 25 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Sunday, 15-Oct-2006 17:33:04

i like my real name, however, i know i'm not the only chelsea on here.

Post 26 by UnknownQuantity (Account disabled) on Sunday, 15-Oct-2006 23:40:31

I prefer my birth name, but if there are a few Jesses logged on at a time, then I do'nt mind my username at all.

Post 27 by Cousin Cap (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 04-Nov-2006 8:08:12

For what it's worth, I was all gung-ho about being called by my user-name for, perhaps, the first three or four months of my stay in this place. But, once somebody started using my real name in public, I accepted the fact that, somehow or other, it will be known by all. So, if you must, refer to me as Cousin, Cap, or any combination of the two. If you're really curious, though, and interested enough to read the rambling profile, the real name is finally in there.
